(The word ‘ravi’ comes from ‘ravissement’, rapture). Farm-hand; somewhat naive and simple-minded. This moving character made its appearance at the beginning of the 19th century in Marseilles. He raises his arms to heaven in guileless happiness on hearing the news of Jesus's birth.
