Grinder N°3

Avaibility: In stock

knife grinder

Travelling tradesman who sharpens cutting implements. He has formed part of the crib since the beginning of the 19th century. In the Maurel ‘Pastoral’ he is known as ‘Pimpara’. Beside him is his grindstone with the little water can. He is about to sharpen a knife which he is holding in his hand. His clothes are protected by a big hide apron. He travels from village to village with his grinder, telling the tales he has heard during his journeying – sometimes ‘embroidering’ upon them ! Since he earns very little, everyone gives him a ‘chicoulon’, a little glass, to drink – which increases his natural cheerfulness !
